A customizable, algorithm-powered map generator for RPG Maker MV & MZ

Tile Map Alchemist lets you create fully customizable maps for RPG Maker MV and MZ - from tiny scenes to massive worlds - at the press of a button. Shape the land, carve out paths, paint biomes, and fine-tune every detail until your map feels just right. When you're done, simply export it straight into your RPG Maker project.

Whether you want a quick starting point or a powerful terrain-generation workflow, Tile Map Alchemist helps you spend less time staring at a blank canvas and more time designing great maps.

Features

  • Supports most MV / MZ tilesets
  • Multiple map types available: Outdoor & Dungeons (more on the way)
  • Direct export to RPG Maker MV & MZ projects
  • Generate maps of any size - up to giant 255×255 worlds
  • Flexible topology tools to sculpt terrain and customize layouts
  • Waypoint-based path generation for natural roads and trails
  • Create your own biomes and apply them where you want

Why use Tile Map Alchemist?

Tile Map Alchemist won’t replace the artistry of hand-crafted maps - but it gives you an incredibly strong foundation to build upon. Instead of starting from scratch, you get a fully formed layout you can refine, decorate, and make uniquely yours.

No AI

Tile Map Alchemist uses carefully designed procedural algorithms - no AI models, no external data. Every result remains fully predictable, customizable, and under your control.

Another question(s), how to deal with separately located tiles? For Biome Object? in Tile Sheet?
Or do they have to be small tiles connected to each other?
Currently, the menu window for biome objects (?) is only column shaped?
Is there a way to manually put separately positioned tiles into one object?

You would need to edit your tileset image and move the distant tiles together to achieve that. I will think about how the tool could support such cases - but it's probably not that easy to implement in a user friendly way.

How do I change tileset - sets? Once I've confirmed the map tiles? Sorry, I can't seem to find it. >.<

(+1)

Currently there is no option for that use case - your initial tileset selection is not changeable. I will add a "Tileset Settings" dialog on my todo list.

Thank you so much!

can you give us some biomes? i cant figure out how to add the tree brush thing you showed in the gifs

there are some biomes available for the mv & mz outside / dungeon tilesets. i will add some better ones in the next releases.

like i saw your reddit post and couldnt figure out how to paint on the trees

just use the mv outside tileset when creating a new map. then go to the „biomes“ tab and select „dense forest“ on the right. have fun painting trees :)

i used exactly the default outside tilesets and there was no dense forest

(1 edit)

make sure to use the MV outside tileset - not MZ (dense forest is currently only available for MV)

it has forest and meadow

Can you add support for generating towns and villages in a future update?

(+1)

It‘s on my list :)

Does this work for other sized tiles? not for 48x48?
--- i tried the demo, it doesnt seem to work with 32x32 tileset?

(+1)

Currently, only 48x48 is supported. It's on my list to support other tile sizes for MZ.

(+1)

fyi: just released version 1.1 with support for 32×32, 24×24, and 16×16 tile sizes

Very cool! I am getting "Tileset image *.png can't be used as A1 due to its dimensions". Not sure what I am doing wrong

Thank you for the hint! I will fix the error as soon as possible. Which tileset are you using? And what are the dimensions (width, height in pixels) of the image you're using for A1?

Looking good!!
